What logic did you use to help you designate certain "rivalries?"

Duke-Syracuse
BC-Pitt
Clemson-Wake
GT-UVA

For the record, not a bad attempt to come up with pairings. I do think it is possible that the schools' choices may surprise people. For example, VT could decide it want to protect its "rivalry" with BC and/or GT. As a result, that could mean VT isn't paired with L'ville and/or Miami. Also, Clemson may prefer to be paired with FSU than Wake. Likewise, Duke and UVA may prefer to be paired together instead of Syracuse (Duke) and GT (UVA). It is even possible that Miami would be preferred to be paired with BC, FSU, and Syracuse.

My point is that everyone may not get every pairing they want. If some schools do get every pairing they want and others are stuck with "forced pairings," then what type of ill will could that create among the members? This discussion is all hypothetical anyways until the schools change the bylaws. Remember this is the current bylaws and there is no guarantee that there will be enough schools who support changing them.

17.11.6 Number of Contests. [FBS/FCS]
17.11.6.2.1 Bowl Subdivision. [FBS] In bowl subdivision football, the maximum number of football contests shall exclude the following: (Revised: 1/10/90, 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08, 10/28/10, 10/27/11 effective 4/1/12, Adopted: 8/2/12 effective 8/1/14, 1/15/16 effective 8/1/16)
(b) Conference Championship Game. One conference championship game:
(1) Between division champions of a conference that is divided into two divisions (as equally balanced in number as possible) and conducts round-robin, regular-season competition in each division; or
(2) Between the top two teams in the conference standings following full round-robin regular-season competition among all members of the conference.

Remember sub-point 2 would still apply to a conference with 12+ if it ever decided to eliminate the divisions. Hence why I said earlier the bylaw would need to be changed before the ACC even considered going that route.
